Fish Facts


Did you know that the redfish is also known as the red drum.

It is an inshore species until they grow to about 30 inches. (4-years old), then they migrate to nearshore waters.

In the shallows, they are particularly vulnerable to cold snaps.  They feed on crustaceans, fish and mollusks and can live 20 years or more.

Boat Launch at Indian Mounds Park




Easy access to the bay directly from the resort.









Boat Launching

Just 0.3 miles south of the resort, Indian Mounds Park (named after the Indian artifacts and shell middens found there) has docks & boat ramp launch facilities, plenty of free parking, rest rooms and picnic areas.

Resort Dockage

  • Boat slips in the resort dockage are included with your accommodations and are available for guests only.
  • The dockage is sheltered and seawall protected.
  • Basin depth limits boats to shallow draft boat up to 23'.
  • One slip is available for larger boats
  • On site storage for boat trailers (guests only)
  • Water and electric are available

Resort Fishing
Snook, Redfish, Sea Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper and Jacks can be caught from our fishing dock and resort property.

Inshore Fishing
The inshore fishing species include: Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Trout, Sheepshead, Pompano and Founder.

Gulf of Mexico Fishing

Access to the Gulf through Stump Pass offers off shore fishing for: Grouper, Snapper, Cobia, Amberjack, Sharks, Mackerel, Kingfish, Bonita, Barracuda, Triple-tail, and Tarpon.

Bait, Tackle and Beverages
Dearborn Corner Market (directly across the street from Buchan's Landing Resort) has live shrimp, frozen bait, tackle, maps, groceries, beverages, ice and other provisions you may need for your day on the water.
